SCRIPT

Scene 1

INT.  INDOOR POOL, JACUZZI – ALEX’S DREAM

The location is Royal Connaught Park, Bushey, equipped with an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Two girls join Alex in the Jacuzzi. The room is atmospherically lit from the sky beaming through a small glass roof. Blue and purple lighting surround the pool and Jacuzzi area.

The camera is positioned extremely close up of the bubbles from a birds eye view. Cool, feel good soft rock music is playing over.

As the bubbles flow into the middle of the Jacuzzi it gives the sense that the camera is moving forwards. Slowly the camera lifts upwards 90 degrees. It then pans around the circumference of the Jacuzzi therefore revealing girl 1, Alex and girl 2.

Alex’s confidence is through the roof. He is sitting in between two hot girls who are treating him like a king. They are both in bikinis either side of him. Alex is portrayed at a cool character with his sunglasses covering his eyes.

(Montage sequence: The footage is slowed down with the music over the top)

Both girls are feeding him fruit, dangling strawberries and grapes into his mouth, they gently force sliced oranges into his mouth and he pulls a smile. The girls pick up three martini glasses and bottles of vodka that are pulled out from behind the Jacuzzi. Everyone is laughing and flirting with each other. The girls are all over Alex whilst they are also feeding each other with the fruit.

The camera zooms slowly into Alex and he flashes a cheeky smile at the camera, his glasses are steamed up. The girls continue to pour vodka down him and each other.

The girls get up out of the Jacuzzi, they walk away from the camera and leave Alex alone, neither of them turn back to look at Alex. Alex starts to panic where he experiences anxiety and stress (The footage is slowed down again).

To represent a similar effect to the camera going under water, layered shots of the water will appear in front of Alex as the girls get up and leave the Jacuzzi. The sound will disintegrate to make the viewer feel he is underwater. The colors start to fragment and the girls walk away through a watery-layered vibe.

Alex’s mind is slowed down but his anxiety begins to kick in and the scene starts to quicken up, as the girls are leaving the Jacuzzi the camera speed is slowed down. Alex’s angry reactions are slowed down but normal-high speed camera pace changes when he jumps up.

Alex tries to raise his voice but can’t. He gets angry and starts shouting for them to turn back but his shouting is muted. He can’t get his words out so he directs his anger towards the camera. (high-speed/slow-speed effects) Alex again attempts shouting whilst still in the Jacuzzi, he then moves closer towards the camera. A side-on shot of Alex getting up and moving towards the camera. The camera switches back to directly in front of Alex. He slips and falls under water.

Scene 2

INT.  ALEX HOME, BEDROOM – DAY

All of a sudden he’s waking up. There is a bottle of vodka by his bed. Alex is sweating, he wipes the sweat off his forehead and reaches his hands down his trousers when he realises he’s had a wet dream. He pulls his hands out of the duvet covers and wipes his hand on his mattress whilst cursing at the same time. Straight away he hears his mother scream from downstairs that feels like it’s outside his room. His bedroom door starts to shake and the door knob wobbles like there is a monster outside. Think Darren Aaronofski Pi.

MUM

“Alex you’re fucking late for school again!”

Alex gets the shock of his life and his eyes jump wide open. Flashes of these girls and the Jacuzzi pop up and fade away. He mutters under his breathe…

ALEX

“For fuck sake it’”

And then screams…

ALEX

“How many times do I need to tell you I don’t go to school anymore, it’s university!!

Alex’s mum pops her head through the door to tell him politely needs to get up. She is wearing the same head band as girl 2 in the dream.

After a few exchanges with his mum, who has let him know that his breakfast is almost ready, Alex drops his boxers into the bin and heads to the bathroom. Quick close up shots of Alex taking pills, including snippets of his daily morning routine.

Scene 3

INT.  ALEX HOME, BATHROOM -- DAY

He gazes strongly into the mirror whilst brushing his teeth.

A shot through the bluey/purple colored Listerine mouth-wash echoes the blue/purple lighting from the Jacuzzi, which sparks Alex’s memory of his dream.

Quick snippet close up shots of the kettle being filled up with water, turned on and boiled. Close up of mum with steam from the kettle in front then. She goes blurry and girl 2 comes into focus, then as the steam goes the focus is back onto Alex’s mum.

Scene 4

INT.  ALEX HOME, KITCHEN – DAY

Low wide angle shot of toast pov of Alex spreading butter. Mum walks into the background and starts asking him to do chores.

MUM

Alex have you started the insurance papers?

ALEX

Yes Mum

Slow motion mum eating grapes with granola breakfast

MUM

Good, how are they going?

Alex

Shit! I’ve just about written my name

MUM

That’s fine I can help you later. I need you to cut the grass at some point it’s getting long and Richard’s hurt his back, is that okay? Richard said that the lawn mower a little bit temperamental but still works. Also it’s Friday tonight and we’re having people round so if you don’t mind getting the long table from the garage and wiping down the chairs, you know I don’t like all the creepy crawlies...

The sound of his mother’s voice builds up in his head until it’s blurred and he can’t hear what she is saying anymore. Before she gets a chance to finish her sentence, Alex interrupts.

ALEX

Mum! We need to go, I’m g­­oing to be late!

ALEX

Shit! my wallet?!

Scene 5

INT.  MUM’S CAR, DRIVE TO STATION – DAY

Quick snippet shots close up of the key starting the ignition, gear stick into drive, hand brake off, foot down on the pedal. At this point the colour scheme continues, purple and blues, nail polish, key rings find away to keep the scheme.

Alex is gazing out of the car window, looking far into the distance. The radio is on in the background. Sounds of cars driving past, Alex flinches when his mum says his name. Alex hears girl 2’s voice call his name from his mum’s mouth.

MUM (GIRL 2)

Alex

MUM

I’m proud of you, you know that, You’re working hard. If you could just help me out a little bit more around the house I would appreciate it.

Alex acknowledges what his Mum says but decides to ignore it.

As he gets out the car he leaves his phone on the seat.

His mum’s voice turns back into Girl 2

MUM (GIRL 2)

Alex!

MUM

You forgot your phone!

Alex turns back to get his phone and thanks his Mum.

Scene 6

EXT.  EXIT CAR, CANONS PARK STATION – DAY

Alex enters Canons Park Station. Shot from behind him following him into the station, up the stairs, waiting on the platform and walking on the train. Still shot of Alex from the top of the stairs, of him reaching the top of the stairs.

Scene 7

INT.  ON THE TRAIN, CANONS PARK TO QUEENSBURY – DAY

Alex is starring out the window overlooking Barnet F.C stadium ‘The Hive’.

Scene 8

EXT.  BARNET F.C, THE HIVE – DAY

Alex finds himself on the football pitch. He is surrounded by the sounds of cheers and a good football atmosphere but no one is around. He sees girl 1 from his dreams, wearing purple, on the other side of the pitch having a picnic all alone eating strawberries and grapes. He attempts to get her attention but she doesn’t react. He leaves the football he was playing with alone and heads over to her direction.

Alex has to turn back as he realises he’s left his bag behind. He quickly picks his bag up and rushes towards her. His papers constantly fall out his bag, which reflects his anxieties but chooses to ignore them. He trips up and falls on his face.

Scene 9

INT.  TRAIN, QUEENSBURY STATION – DAY

Fading entrance of his face eyes open as he looks around to see someone nudging him. A passenger has entered the train and asked if he can move his bag.

PASSANGER

Excuse me could you please move your bag?!

On the other side of the carriage, a girl he recognises from his dreams gets on the train. She sits down, but a couple of seconds later she is joined by male who looks like he could be her boyfriend.

Alex feels lost and confused, a gust of wind blows and his papers start falling out of his bag and onto the floor

Scene 10

INT.  TRAIN, BAKER STREET STATION – DAY

Pan round to hip height to full body shot of alex getting off the train then moves with him out the station. The camera then follows him as he heads to the exit.

Scene 11

EXT.  BAKER STREET, WESTMINSTER UNI — DAY

He drops a few bits of paper on his walk to uni. When arriving, he pushes the door open but to his shock it’s locked with a sign on the door saying

“Closed for Good Friday, Have a wonderful Easter”.

Alex looks left and right, notices a few shops, but decides to go into the nearest newsagent where he picks up a bottle of vodka. He roams the streets whilst sipping on his drink. The camera shots get more jaded, slightly more tilted and lower. More of his papers drop out of his bag. He stumbles into Donuts and Baguettes in Piccadilly Circus.

Scene 12

INT.  PICCADILLY CIRCUS, DONUTS & BAGUETTES – DAY

As Alex approaches D&B, we see the interior of the restaurant and the waiters behind the till. Alex enters and instantly notices the girl from his dream behind the counter. She serves him like any normal customer but Alex becomes star struck. He struggles to make his order and she hurries him, leaving him to panic.

GIRL 1

Excuse me sir can I get your order?

Points to the sign

We don’t take card in here if that’s what your wondering.

Sorry can you get out if your not ordering, there are customers waiting

Scene 13

EXT.  PICCADILLY CIRCUS – DAY

Alex exits anxiously and wonders around Piccadilly Circus, the lights around the streets get more intense, the sounds of the walking public penetrates his head. Alex’s double vision worsens and the colours of the environment start to change whilst he drinks more of his vodka. The sight of the girl from his dream gets too much for him as he loses touch with his own reality.

Scene 14

EXT.  HYDE PARK – DAY

The sounds of birds in a park, kids laughing, people walking match up the image of a sunny summers day in the park. Alex wakes up all alone by a tree with his bottle of vodka by his side, dazed and confused. We see flashbacks of a girl in the park, people playing football, girls in a Jacuzzi and his mum speaking about uni.

A girl approaches Alex.

GIRL 1

Alex………?

Alex………?

Alex!

Alex what’s wrong?

It’s okay, don’t worry

It’s me, your sister...

Come on get up, why aren’t you at uni? Lets get you home.

Alex and the girl from his dream walk off into the distance. The screen starts to fade black and the credits role.
