Police Scene in Requiem For A Dream

When first watching this scene with the two junkies sitting at the foot stall, It's not possible to predict what is about to happen. Harry, played by Jared Leto, checks out the policemans side pocket and goes to reach for his gun. As the viewer we're thinking it's not possible he wouldn't do that. Suddenly, he snatches it and throws it over the policemans head to his friend. They throw it back and fourth until the policemen slips. Suddenly, the guy behind the till starts asking if Harry wants anything else and we assume he's talking to the policeman, however, Harry is stoned off his face on cloud 9. It's only then that we realise it was a dream.

The score helps build tension and increases the anxiety of the viewer and the character. There is no change of color to the dream for the audience to assume that its a dream. I think this is very clever and was something i have considered for my dream effects in my film.
