Keanu Reeves serves as producer, narrator and interviewer for Side by Side, in which he sets out to examine cinema's transition from film to digital formats.
Chris Kenneally Directed as Reeves conducted a large share of the interviews himself, which not only helped the filmmakers gain such unprecedented access but also made for a series of relaxed, open conversations.
It took around 18 months to round up and interview all the film-makers.
I watched this documentary and decided to take it up on myself so experiment on filming in a documentary style. It's a great way to test my skills of setting up a camera, preparing a subject, and lighting it.
I've prepared questions and been in contact with an old age home where i will speak with some people who will kindly share life experiences and hopefully offer advice.
I have taken snippets from the side by side documentary to study lighting on the subject and the set out of 1/2 camera shots focusing on the interviewee.
