Filming best possible quality in low light

Watching this video made me realise what it takes to get the best out of filming during night time.

how they set up the camera and why theres never any noise

rule number 1. never go higher then 1600 iso or the image gets noisy
2. keep your shutter speed between 30-50, if you shoot with a higher some lights are going to start flickering.
3. the apature should be between F/1.2 - F.5.6
4. change the picture style of your camera: no contrast, or the image will be darker then it should be.

most important part is if you are shooting where no lights are you wont see anything
if you dont have artificial light you must go to a place where a lot of lights are.

reflecting overall on the lighting in the film, i was a bit critical in places. During my interview with Pam in the office, the light from the window is over exposed where i should lowered the apature and reduced the iso to perhaps 200. It was a difficult room to work with as it was fairly dull and i wanted to bring in light in contrast with the topic of the story. Next time especially for my night scenes at the different locations I will use a lens with an biggest apature F/1.2 where as i was using the Canon Mark 3 F/4. I was pleased with the quality of the 24 - 105 mm lense, However i feel i would have benefited by using a 150-300 mm for the outside shoot. I enjoyed working with the light in the streets, street lamp lights and the mood being the main source of light.
