Researching forest fires on the web, the top image seems to fit the theme best. As theres no serious, viscous fire, but little parts of ruins and burned textures so the audience know something bad has happened.
Harry Potter Lego gives a good example of small fires, smoke, burned ruins and a mysterious creepy atmosphere.
