Hurdles & frustrations

On the 10th May, 3 days before final crit, my harddrive crashed on me.

I lost every file, photo, song, video, software over the last 5 years which was quite depressing and halted my work process a bit. I went out to reshoot over that weekend but i didn't like what i had and wanted to give up before i had even really started. Luckily, interviews i was supposed to have conducted earlier in the week had fallen through so I didn't have that footage to lose.

My computer still has a year warrantee therefore after patiently waiting at the new Apple store in the Trinity centre, Leeds, I was able to replace the harddrive later that day.

Coming up to the final days to the responsive brief hand in date. I was speaking with my sister, who specialises in a career in beauty therapy, regarding my project and studying Peter Sutcliffe. She mentioned she had a client for 4 years that was Peter Sutcliffe's psychotherapist in Broadoor. She tried but couldn't get in touch with this lady in time and for me to get to London to interview her, it was too late. She suggest when i have projects to use Facebook to my full advantage and speak about what i am doing. Find out if I know people or if my friends know people that I can find benefit in from on future projects because if she had known sooner i would have been able to speak with a valuable source and gained better information.

So two major lessons learnt. One, back up EVERYTHING. Buy a harddrive to store all my work and files on, and then back up my back up! Two, USE FACEBOOK to my advantage. Network and talk.
