I saw a medieval looking operating table at the Thakery Medic museum and thought this could really add an extra intimidating experience with some aliens. It doesn't look friendly and if you wake up lying on one of these it wouldn't seem a joke. I ended up using a reflecting surface called phong. I felt blinn was too shiny and bright, and lambert was a little dull. I didn't want to divert the viewer away too much from the character.
