Optical Illusions in the latest Honda 'An impossible made possible' Ad

Honda’s latest advert, called “An Impossible Made Possible,” was created by Mcgarrybowen London directed Chris palmer at Gorgeous.tv.

The idea behind the advert is said by Paul Jordon, Executive Create Director, Mcgarrybowen London says, “This CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC challenges a lot of pre-conceived ideas about SUV’s, so we wanted to make a spot where things aren’t what they first seem”. To me, an idea that sounds funny and strange, because if I was looking to buy a car I would want to know what I am purchasing and for things to be simple.

The directing and cinematography in the advert is very clever, the camera work allows the viewer believe they are watching an optical illusion. This creates a unique way to get the viewer to notice the point of the advert that things aren’t always as they appear. The cool visual effects are created by the camera positioning and blocking of the car and characters. Each illusion gives away the secret allowing the audience to see that it’s all camera tricks; placing the cameras in specific angles

The making of the advert can be seen below.
